VENTURA, Calif. - Crewmembers from Coast Guard Station Channel Islands Harbor, the Coast Guard Cutter Blacktip, and several members of the Coast Guard Auxiliary gathered to shave their heads in support of the National St. Baldrick’s charity event to benefit children’s cancer research, March 27. In its eleven years of existence, the St. Baldrick’s Foundation has become the world’s largest volunteer-driven fundraising program for childhood cancer research. “We joined the Coast Guard to save lives and help people in distress,” said Petty Officer 1st Class Lia Chasteen. “This is our way of helping support our community in the fight for the cure of cancer.” Coast Guard Auxiliarist |
