Commandant visits Station Channel Islands

Awards Coast Guard Reserve Sailor of the Year

CHANNEL ISLANDS HARBOR, Calif. -- Commandant of the Coast Guard Admiral Thad Allan, and Master Chief of the Coast Guard Charles Bowen came to Coast Guard Station Channel Islands today to present awards and recognitions to members of the crew.

The Commandant presented MK3 Chris Sweet with an award for the Coast Guard Reserve Enlisted Person of the Year, MK2 Andy Ruthdeutsch was advanced to First Class and BM2 Devon Green was awarded a certificate and gold coin for re-enlisting into the Coast Guard for an additional six years.

After the awards ceremony, the Commandant and the Master Chief talked to the crew about current issues and subjects within the Coast Guard and answered any questions the crew had.
