Coast Guard responding to overturned sailing vessel – Update

OXNARD, Calif.- Earlier this evening rescuers from the U.S. Coast Guard and the Oxnard Fire Department responded to an overturned sailboat near Mandalay Beach in Oxnard, Calif.

The Coast Guard Command Center in San Pedro, California dispatched a rescue boat from Coast Guard Station Channel Islands Harbor as well as a Coast Guard HH-65 “Dolphin” rescue helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Los Angeles.

The vessel has been removed from the water. According to records from the Department of Motor Vehicles the vessel’s registered owners are Tina Nanasy and Johnathan Gibson.

An Urgent Marine Information Broadcast issued by the Coast Guard will continue throughout the evening.

The Coast Guard is requesting the public’s assistance in determining the whereabouts of the registered owners. If anyone has any information they are requested to contact the Coast Guard Command Center at 310-521-3801.
