Coast Guard assists with three stranded persons

SANTA CRUZ ISLAND, Calif.   Coast Guard Air Station Los Angeles diverted an HH-65C Dolphin helicopter to Santa Cruz Island at 9:21 a.m. after Vessel Assist Ventura reported that three men were stranded on Santa Cruz Island beach today.

The helicopter dropped a hand held VHF radio to the men. The men's vessel  was anchored when it dragged its anchor a thousand feet farther from shore.  Vessel assist is on scene and plans to recover the stranded men and tow the vessel back to Ventura, Calif.

This case is ongoing.
