| UPDATE 2: Coast Guard responding to mid-air collision |

LOS ANGELES - The U.S. Coast Guard, Los Angeles City Fire Department and Long Beach Fire Department continued the search off the coast of
Aircraft and vessels from the Coast Guard, Los Angeles County Sheriff Department and Los Angeles County Fire Department will continue the search this morning.
The report of the collision came from a small aircraft in the area that witnessed the collision. The Coast Guard was notified that two small aircraft had collided and crashed into the waters off of At approximately 7:00 p.m. last night the first of two debris fields were located by the Long Beach Fire Department about 5 miles southwest of the A five mile long safety zone has been established around the two debris fields. It is believed that the two planes were Cessna type aircraft. One of the planes was occupied by a student and instructor pilot. The occupants of the other aircraft have not been confirmed at this time. |
