| Coast Guard air crew rescues three from beached vessel |

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – A Coast Guard helicopter crew rescued three people from a 47-foot sailing vessel that went aground on the beach near Point Conception this morning, June 20th.
Early this morning the Command Center at Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles – Long Beach received a report from the California Highway Patrol that a 47-foot sailing vessel with three people aboard had run aground in the area of Coho Anchorage near Point Conception, about 50 miles northwest of Santa Barbara. An HH-65C rescue helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Los Angeles was dispatched to the scene. Once on scene the air crew hoisted all three people into the helicopter and transported them safely to the Santa Barbara Airport where they were attended to by emergency medical personnel. The beached vessel’s hull is reported to be intact and none of the approximately 30-40 gallons of diesel fuel on board has entered the water. Pollution Investigators from Coast Guard Marine Safety Detachment – Santa Barbara are responding to the scene to further assess the situation. Salvage plans for the vessel are pending.
