| Coast Guard responds to vessel taking on water near Santa Cruz Island |

OXNARD, Calif. — The Coast Guard has responded to a distress call received this morning, July 26, from a Good Samaritan on scene with a disabled 22-foot pleasure craft taking on water approximately 4 nautical miles northwest of Santa Cruz Island, Calif. with two people on board. The distress call came into the Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles - Long Beach Command Center just after 8:45 a.m over VHF radio on channel 16. The Good Samaritan vessel passed a hand pump to the pleasure craft, but it was unable to keep pace with the rate the boat was taking on water. |
