Coast Guard Air Station Los Angeles conducts medevac off Catalina Island

CATALINA ISLAND, Calif. — Coast Guard Air Station Los Angeles conducted a medical evacuation of a 32 year-old man who was injured following a 10-foot fall on Catalina Island, Sunday August 23, 2009.

The command center at Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles – Long Beach received notification of the need for the medical evacuation from the Los Angeles County Fire Department Baywatch Avalon dispatcher around 12:30 a.m.

Air Station Los Angeles dispatched an HH-65C Dolphin helicopter which safely transferred the man from Catalina Island to St. Mary’s Hospital Trauma Center in Long Beach, Calif.
