| Coast Guard Cutter Blacktip conducts medevac offshore Santa Cruz Island |
| OXNARD, Calif. — Coast Guard Cutter Blacktip conducted a medevac of an 82 year-old man who was suffering from an unknown medical condition offshore Santa Cruz Island, Wednesday August 26, 2009.
The Command Center at Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles – Long Beach received notification via VHF radio, channel 16 at approximately 7 p.m. requesting assistance. The 82 year-old male was on board a sailing vessel anchored in Smugglers Cove, Santa Cruz Island.
The 87-foot patrol boat, Blacktip, homeported in Channel Islands Harbor, was dispatched to the scene and transferred the man from the sailing vessel to local EMS at Channel Islands Harbor.
The man was transferred to St. John’s Hospital in Oxnard, Calif. in stable condition.
