Coast Guard responds to a vessel taking on water near Morro Bay

MORRO BAY, Calif. – The Coast Guard responded to a call early today, Sept. 18, from the sailing vessel Summer Ray reporting that they were taking on water approximately 30 miles northwest of Morro Bay, Calif. with three people aboard.

A 47-foot Motor Life Boat from Coast Guard Station Morro Bay and an HH-65C Dolphin helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Los Angeles were dispatched to the scene.

Coast Guard crews were able to stop the flooding with dewatering pumps and are towing the vessel back to Morro Bay.
