Coast Guard conducts medevac from cruise ship

LONG BEACH, Calif. — The Coast Guard conducted a medevac of a man reportedly suffering from a stroke while on board a cruise ship located approximately 20 nautical miles southwest of Long Beach.
At approximately 6 p.m. on Tuesday, a crew-member aboard the cruise ship Zuiderdam contacted the Coast Guard requesting a medevac, stating that a 85-year-old man was in need of help.
Coast Guard Air Station Los Angeles launched a MH-65C helicopter and crew, which arrived on-scene at 7:31 p.m.
The man was transferred to Torrance Memorial Medical Center in Torrance, Calif. His condition is unknown.
