Coast Guard rescue swimmers to conduct survival training


WHO:  Coast Guard Air Station Los Angeles personnel

WHAT:  Station personnel will conduct survival training for the pilots and aircrew to ensure proper techniques are being utilized by all flight personnel. Flight crews must maintain their proficiencies every year.  A helicopter hoist demonstration will be conducted.  

*The hoist is not part of the survival training, but is a tool used to give the aircrew a better perspective of what it is like to be rescued.   

WHERE: Torrance Beach, Calif.

WHEN:  Thursday, Oct. 8, 2009

Interested news media should contact Mr. Anthony Turner to arrange for proper pre-brief and to take the necessary one-day class Monday Oct. 5 (location and driving directions will be provided) to be hoisted by the helicopter crew. 

Participation by news media will be evaluated as part of a first-come/first-served basis.
