| Coast Guard conducts medevac near Santa Barbara Island |
| SANTA BARBARA ISLAND, Calif. — The Coast Guard conducted a medevac Tuesday of a man with head trauma aboard a sail training vessel located approximately four nautical miles west of Santa Barbara Island, Calif. At approximately 5 p.m. the sail training vessel contacted the Coast Guard on VHF Cannel 16 requesting a medevac stating that a 34-year-old man was in need of medical assistance after a fall aboard the vessel. An MH-65C Dolphin helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Los Angeles was dispatched to the area and deployed a rescue swimmer onto the vessel. The rescue swimmer, after assessing the situation, transfered the patient to the helicopter. The man was transferred to Torrance Memorial Medical Center in Torrance, Calif. |
