SANTA BARBARA ISLAND, Calif. — The Coast Guard conducted a medevac Tuesday of a man with head trauma aboard a sail training vessel located approximately four nautical miles west of Santa Barbara Island, Calif.

SANTA BARBARA ISLAND, Calif. — The Coast Guard conducted a medevac Tuesday of a man with head trauma aboard a sail training vessel located approximately four miles west of Santa Barbara Island, Calif.  

 

An MH-65C Dolphin helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Los Angeles was dispatched to the area and deployed a rescue swimmer onto the vessel. The rescue swimmer, after assessing the situation, transferred the patient to the Coast Guard Cutter Blackfin’s small boat. The patient was then transferred from the small boat to the Blackfin itself and hoisted from there.

The man was transferred to Torrance Memorial Medical Center in Torrance, Calif.
