|
SAN PEDRO, Calif. — Students from Banning High School in Wilmington, Calif. visited Coast Guard Base Support Unit San Pedro Wednesday to participate in their Coast Guard Day. This is the 7th year that 60 sophomores from Banning High School's Global Safety and Security Academy got a chance to learn about the missions and responsibilities of the Coast Guard, Long Beach Harbor Patrol, Los Angeles Port Police and Customs and Border Protection. The Coast Guard has been superb in their support of the academy, said Jim Morgan, Chair of GSS. Up to 90 percent of academy students graduate and achieve measurable performance improvement.
