Coast Guard conducts medevac off Catalina Island

CATALINA ISALAND, Calif. – The Coast Guard conducted a medevac of a 65-year-old male from Catalina Island for multiple medical concerns at approximately 5 a.m. Monday.

A MH-65C Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Los Angeles was requested by Catalina Hospital to assist the man.

"Inter-agency cooperation is important to get the mission done," said Lt. Jim Hiltz. "We are always happy to assist local agencies in helping people in need."

The helicopter crew transported him from Catalina Island to Torrance Memorial Hospital to awaiting emergency medical services.
