Coast Guard conducts medevac off Catalina Island

CATALINA ISLAND, Calif. — The Coast Guard conducted a medevac of a 54-year-old female from Catalina Island as a result of medical concerns at approximately 10 p.m. Wednesday.

Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles-Long Beach recieved the request for a medevac from the Catalina Island Medical Center at 8:28 p.m.

A MH-65C Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Los Angeles, joined by a Los Angeles County paramedic, transported the woman from Catalina Island to Torrance Memorial Medical Center.

While the nature of the distress in this case was not maritime related, this evening's actions highlight the Coast Guard's ability to assist local partners in providing essential service to the people of southern California.
