Coast Guard searching waters off Shell beach

PORT SAN LUIS, Calif. – The Coast Guard is searching the area of coast off of Shell Beach for a reported person in the water.

The Coast Guard received a report at approximately 6 p.m. of a swimmer unable to reach shore.

An MH-65 Dolphin rescue helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Los Angeles and the Coast Guard Cutter Halibut were dispatched to the scene to search for the person. Also on scene to assist in the search are a helicopter from California Highway Patrol, and a unit from California Fire.

There is no further information on the person in the water at this time.
