Public Affairs Detachment Los Angeles
U.S. Coast Guard
News Release
WHAT: Golden Guardian/Port Protector is a large-scale exercise combining state and local government agencies. Combining the state exercise Golden Guardian and the federal exercise Port Protector, this drill will be a full-scale exercise to include live training on site throughout the port of Los Angeles Long Beach. The exercise is scheduled to run from May 18, 2009 to May 20, 2010.
Protection of the port, as well as the people and the environment, is a priority for all the agencies involved. By working closely together during training exercises, agencies have the chance to learn to work together and develop techniques that will allow for a maximum response with a minimum delay in response to an actual event.
