| Downed Aircraft Off Dana Point |
Dana Point - At 2:03 pm the Coast Guard received a call from the vessel SPIRIT OF DANA POINT reporting a cessna aircraft that crashed into the ocean approximately 3 nautical miles west of Dana Point. The aircraft was reported to be a Cessna with two people onboard. The aircraft was reported to be enroute from Brown Airfield in San Diego to John Wayne Airport in Orange County. A Coast Guard Auxiliary boat, a helicopter from Air Station Los Angeles and a Coast Guard 25' Response Boat responded to the scene. Orange County Sheriff's Dana Point Harbor Patrol have also responded to the scene. Sheriff's divers are currently searching the area for survivors. The cause of the accident is not known at this time.
