Debris Recovery of Collision Near San Pedro, Calif.

A Coast Guard 41-foot rescue boat returns to Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles-Long Beach with debris recovered from the search area just south of the Port of Los Angeles today.  Henry Sanchez, 51, and Penny Avila, 48, were reported to be aboard a 26-foot pleasure craft bound for Santa Catalina Island. Debris included a California vessel number that matches the vessel Sanchez and Avila were reportedly aboard. The Coast Guard searched the area for two days and covered more than 300 square miles. SAN PEDRO, Calif - The Coast Guard Cutter George Cobb conducted training with members of the Federal Bureau of Investigations Southwest region SWAT teams and Hostage Rescue Team yesterday in Los Angeles Harbor.

Approximately 60 FBI SWAT members spent the week receiving special weapons and tactics training with Coast Guard units culminating in the waterborne boarding exercise held on the Cobb. This exercise supported the joint capabilities between the Departments of Justice and Homeland Security.
